Where Once There was Wood

Where Once There was Wood
by Denise Fleming

Henry Holt & Co, 1996

In this tale about the loss of wildlife, Denise Fleming uses vibrant illustrations she is well known for to depict this tale of change. She shares with us wildlife animals and their habitats and its abrupt end to show how important it is to keep wildlife intact. In the back of the book, there are descriptions of needs, how to help wildlife out and resources in order to learn more. Although this is great for preschool age, it can work with school age children when discussing ecology/conservation and how to create their own story.
