Stranger in the Mirror

Stranger in the Mirror
By Allen Say
Houghton Mifflin, 1995

This is a book about looking at age from the eyes of a child. A little boy wakes up in the morning after saying he does not want to grow old to find himself old in the mirror.
Activities:
Art- Have the children draw what they think they will look like when they are older or picture about older people they may know.
Literacy-Create a book about how they would like to see themselves when they are older. Ask leading questions, "What would you look like? What would you be doing?
Science-Discuss the reasons why people get old and the life and death. This could be used with ages, cycle of any animal, etc.
